Last Saturday, about 40 of our students from all grade levels in our orchestra learned fiddle tunes, arranged a tune, learned to improvise, and got to hear great music on amazing instruments played by the craziest-out-of-control-positive-and-inspirational string band STRING CHEESE!  If you missed it, you won't ever want to miss it again!  These videos are from our "informance"  and just give you a taste of what we did.  If you want to hear what String Cheese is all about, check them out on www.stringcheesemusic.com.  

Waverly Orchestras Perform for the Chamber of Commerce

Members of the Waverly High School orchestra performed Thursday in front of 750 business men and women at the Lansing Chamber of Commerce awards dinner. Students also volunteered at coat check. It was wonderful to represent our school in front of some of Lansing's finest (Mayor Benero and Tom Izzo and family!!!!) and we were also given a generous gift of $1000 from our sponsors, LAFCU. WAY TO GO WAVERLY ORCHESTRA!!! You are the best!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Congratulations to all WMS and WHS performers this week at festival! Waverly Middle Schoolers, under the direction of Ms. Kang, performed on Friday. 7th graders received an overall rating of division II, and the 8th graders played for comments only.

The Waverly High School Festival orchestra (under the direction of Mrs. Spurbeck) also played Friday, and received a Division I rating, the highest rating given at this festival. Congratulations to all our students!

The WOA is hosting its first annual Spaghetti Dinner at Waverly High School on February 10^th! Students from the East, Middle School and High School Orchestras will provide entertainment, and we need parents to help make this a SUPER event! We are holding a planning meeting on Wednesday, January 12^th at 7:00 pm in the High School Orchestra Room. Many hands make light work! Please plan on attending this meeting to find out how you can help!
