Waverly Orchestra Food Drive

Once again, the Waverly Orchestra Association will be conducting food drives at the High School and Middle School Collage Concerts, on December 15 and 16, respectively. Bring a canned good or other non-perishable food item to donate to the local food bank and receive a raffle ticket for a holiday wreath. These wreaths come adorned with $75 in gift certificates to local restaurants and businesses, and the more food items you donate, the more chances you'll have to win. Come to hear some great holiday music performed by our talented Waverly Bands, Orchestras and Choirs, help out the less fortunate members of our community, and earn a chance to win a wreath!

More Congrats in order to....

Kyle Ranieri, Judah Okechukwu, and Amy Trinh. They received a scholarship from the Waverly Alumni Association! The Alumni Association awarded scholarships to 22 students! All high school music students were offered an opportunity to apply for the scholarship.

Our Waverly Music Department encourages all students to pursue music outside of school. Private lessons give students a chance to improve his or her technical and musical ability at an accelerated rate, and can make musical experiences more meaningful. This scholarship will be available again in the fall, so be sure to take advantage of this opportunity!

On September 8th at 7:15 pm, we have an opportunity to watch an open rehearsal of the Lansing Symphony. They are featuring a piano trio from Cleveland, of which the cellist grew up in this area! They are performing Beethoven's Triple Concerto, a powerhouse work. LET'S GO! What a great opportunity to see professional musicians in action!

Welcome to our new "news" site!

Summer always gives us a chance to "catch up" on projects abandoned in the hustle and bustle of the school year-end. I have been looking for a better way to communicate with our community not only the musical activities of our students, but also find a place where we can reflect on some of the less recognized classroom endeavors...such as...

How we think about practicing...or how we think about musical style...or how we learn to help others become better musicians...

I look forward to seeing you here!
